0.4.5 Release Date, Updates
As with every open source project, immediately upon release of MVP, your friendly neighborhood developer (that's me) got super busy. But we're back on it! A quick summary of what we've been working on:
- 0.4.5, a maintenance/minor release, will go out November 25. This release will include a number of bugfixes as well as S3 compatibility for file storage. Release notes will be on GitHub and cross-posted to our docs site (that's here).
- 0.5 is still on track for release in December. This release will include Elasticsearch compatibility and exchange support.
- We're hoping to open our Discord to the broader community in January. This is contingent upon modding capacity. If you're curious about what we're up to in the meantime (for example, you'd like to check out our Trello), you can contact us and we'll get you plugged in.
- We're rethinking how bookmarks function in the context of collections; namely, we're looking at moving bookmarks to being more individual-focused, rather than a feature "for" curators/reccers, and updating collections so that they link directly to works. If you have strong feelings about this please let us know.
In the background we've been doing a lot of work around quality; Kate, our QA lead, has been working on automated testing, and developers (again, me) have been working on unit testing. This will enable us to release with more confidence. Hooray.
We are perennially searching for contributors. If you are a Python developer, have UI/UX experience, or have documentation experience, we would absolutely love to have you. Let us know, xoxo and so on.
