Ourchive Beta: Weeks Five & Six

Hello again. Between vacation and gearing up for fall, things have been a little crazy, but we're close to the finish line and ready to jump back into it.

Highlights

  • We've set a release date! We'll be releasing MVP on Oct 7, 2023. For us, a "release" means:
    • Final features, like improved commenting and search functionality
    • A tested, detailed install guide
    • Public user documentation for a few key features
    • Some code quality stuff, like testing and squashing pre-MVP migrations into a single file.

After our initial release, we'll move into the cadence described in our Roadmap. This is also the point at which we'll start inviting more people into our developer & user communities.

Lowlights

  • The last two weeks have been full of the usual summer fun that impacts velocity: vacation, illness, extra-cirriculars. Fortunately, we haven't meaningfully delayed our schedule; a week of flex in release dates in basically expected. However, your friendly neighborhood dev team (hi) has had spare time reduced in the name of "employment" and "being good at her job", so this will be a good test period for our anticipated MVP -> 1.0 timeline.

Help Us

We're ready to start scheduling feature feedback sessions, which means we need people! If you are interested in providing feature feedback, please fill out this form.

Feature feedback sessions will be held in groups of ~5. We'll start by framing up what we're trying to do, step through our ideas, and then start asking questions. We intend to hold these in a workshop format, which means some users may come to the session with tons of ideas (if you get to the point of building wireframes, please, get in touch) and some may come with nothing but a vague sense of preference. We want all types of feedback, so if this sounds interesting to you, please do sign up.
